Micro Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) is concrete containing fibrous material which increases its structural integrity. It contains short fibers that are uniformly distributed and randomly oriented. Fibers include steel fibers, glass fibers, synthetic fibers and natural fibers.
Fibers are usually used in concrete to control plastic shrinkage cracking and drying shrinkage cracking. They also lower the permeability of concrete and thus reduce bleeding of water. Some types of fibers produce greater impact, abrasion and shatter resistance in concrete. The amount of fibers added to a concrete mix is measured as a percentage of the total volume of the concrete. One note of warning is that fibers which are too long tend to "ball" in the mix and create workability problems.
In order to ensure our customers the best quality, AVR, Inc. & Affiliates recommends and sells the following fibers manufactured by Buckeye and BASF.
Macro Fiber /Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete
The latest technology regarding fiber reinforced concrete is the use of Macro synthetic fibers in place of welded wire fabric. Macro synthetic fibers virtually eliminate the shortcomings of welded wire fabric. Added to the mix at the batch plant, macro synthetic fiber requires minimal labor time or cost at the jobsite beyond pouring the concrete.
At AVR, Inc. we offer the following Macro fiber reinforcement products to fit your specifications. To view additional product data and dosage rates please visit the BASF website.
